Aikido Ruislip

What is Aikido?

Aikido is a non-aggressive Japanese martial-art utilising posture-breaking movements to achieve joint locks, pins and throws.

Aikido is very different from disciplines such as Taekwondo, Kick Boxing, Karate, Kung Fu or Krav Maga where there is emphasis on kicking, punching or wrestling.

By choosing Aikido don't expect to spend hours kicking bags or learning boring katas!

Aikido is versatile with flowing circular movements and the essence of Aikido is to turn an opponents power against him.

Is Aikido for me?

Aikido can benefit everyone, male or female, young or old, of any ethnic or national origin. All can enjoy and improve their health and fitness by attending regular and well-run classes. The formal and more spiritual aspect of Aikido appeals to some, the physical side to others.

Its full and natural body movement has aerobic benefits for all. When practiced regularly it will assist in developing a fitter, suppler and stronger body with improved flexibility, reflexes and reactions.
